Soil. Carbon. Regeneration.

Khokbawa Farmworks is the agricultural and environmental branch of Khokbawa Group.

While Khokbawa Engineering develops biomass technologies and Charcoal Udonthani focuses on charcoal production, Farmworks brings these innovations back to the land.

Its mission is to transform biomass into solutions that improve soil health, support farmers, and contribute to long-term carbon removal.

From Biomass to Soil

Across Thailand, large amounts of agricultural residues such as rice husks, bamboo, and wood waste are produced every year. Much of this biomass is burned or discarded.

Through pyrolysis technologies developed by Khokbawa Engineering, this biomass can instead be converted into biochar, a stable carbon material that improves soil fertility while storing carbon for centuries.

Khokbawa Farmworks focuses on bringing this material back into agriculture.

When applied to soil, biochar can improve water retention, increase nutrient availability, stimulate microbial life, and strengthen crop resilience.

By returning carbon to the soil, agriculture becomes both more productive and more sustainable.

Building a Biochar Production Network

Khokbawa Farmworks is developing a distributed biochar production network across Thailand.

Using pyrolysis furnaces designed by Khokbawa Engineering, agricultural cooperatives and local partners can convert biomass residues into biochar directly within their communities.

Farmworks aggregates this production, ensuring quality control, traceability, and distribution of the biochar produced.

This model allows biochar production to scale while creating economic opportunities for rural communities and agricultural partners.

Production Capacity

The first stage of the project aims to reach 1,000 tons of biochar production per year, using pyrolysis systems developed within the Khokbawa ecosystem.

Because the technology is designed and manufactured in-house by Khokbawa Engineering, production capacity can expand progressively as new partners and cooperatives join the network.

Supporting Rural Communities

The Farmworks model is designed to create new income opportunities in rural areas.

Agricultural cooperatives can operate pyrolysis furnaces and transform local biomass residues into biochar.

Khokbawa Farmworks purchases the biochar produced by these partners, creating a stable market while maintaining quality and environmental standards.

This approach connects local production, sustainable agriculture, and climate solutions into a single circular system.

A Living Laboratory in Udon Thani

Khokbawa Farmworks operates from the same base as Khokbawa Engineering in Ban Lao Udom, Udon Thani, allowing engineers and agricultural teams to work closely together.

The group manages a 50-rai eucalyptus plantation that provides a sustainable source of biomass for pyrolysis and biochar production.

Beyond the forest, the site also includes rice fields and fruit tree gardens, which are used to conduct agricultural trials and evaluate the impact of biochar and soil amendments in real farming conditions.

These lands function as a living laboratory, where engineers, farmers, and local community partners test and refine biochar applications directly in the field.

By combining technology development with agricultural experimentation in the same location, Khokbawa Farmworks accelerates innovation while remaining closely connected to the realities of local farming.

Biochar and Carbon Removal

Biochar is increasingly recognized as one of the most promising solutions for durable carbon removal.

Because biochar is a stable form of carbon, it can remain stored in soils for hundreds of years while improving agricultural productivity.

Khokbawa Farmworks is currently developing biochar carbon removal projects in partnership with Agence de Tounens, working toward the certification of carbon credits linked to biochar production and soil application.

These projects aim to connect sustainable agriculture with climate finance, creating additional value for farmers and biomass producers.

From Local Fields to Global Agriculture

Biochar is gaining increasing attention worldwide, particularly in high-value agricultural sectors such as vineyards.

Through international partnerships and agricultural expertise within the Khokbawa team, Farmworks is exploring opportunities to distribute Thai-produced biochar to international agricultural markets, including European vineyards.

This creates a bridge between biomass resources in Thailand and regenerative agriculture worldwide.

Agricultural Leadership

Khokbawa Farmworks is supported by a team combining agricultural knowledge, international logistics, and land development expertise. Their work connects biomass production in Thailand with agricultural applications and global markets.

Elias Cherraben

Chief Operating Officer – International Operations

Elias Cherraben serves as Chief Operating Officer of Khokbawa Group and plays a key role in the development of Khokbawa Farmworks, particularly in international logistics and European market expansion.

Raised in a winemaking family in Burgundy, France, he worked at Domaine Bonnardot, a 19-hectare organic vineyard estate, where he participated in harvest preparation, vinification, bottling, and quality control.

During his time at the vineyard he also contributed to early experiments integrating biochar into vineyard soil management, improving microbial activity, crop resilience, and drought resistance.

Elias later gained valuable experience in international logistics while working with Savoye Group, a global company specializing in supply chain automation and logistics systems. This background provides strong expertise in export operations and international trade.

At Khokbawa, he combines his agricultural roots, logistics knowledge, and entrepreneurial experience to help develop international partnerships and prepare the global distribution of biochar, particularly for agricultural markets in Europe.

Sébastien Duyck

Land & Agricultural Development

Sébastien Duyck contributes to the development of Khokbawa Farmworks through a multidisciplinary background combining agriculture, land management, and business development.

He grew up in a farming family in Normandy, France, where his family operates the EARL de la Clémendière farm. Working alongside the family business gave him practical experience in agricultural operations and rural land management.

Sébastien holds training in business, management, sales, and marketing, as well as a technical diploma in land surveying. His professional experience includes land division projects, surveying operations, and collaboration with government authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and optimized land use.

Having lived in Thailand for several years, Sébastien is now an integral part of the Khokbawa team, helping develop agricultural projects, field trials, and biochar applications within the Farmworks ecosystem.

The Land Branch of Khokbawa

Within the Khokbawa ecosystem:

Khokbawa Engineering builds the machines.
Charcoal Udonthani produces carbon materials.
Khokbawa Farmworks brings these innovations back to the soil.

Together they form a circular system connecting biomass, agriculture, and climate solutions.
