Brand Story
Charcoal Udonthani was founded in Kud Chap district, Udon Thani, by Tepparit Karngaow and Jenchira Tama.
In northeastern Thailand, charcoal has long been part of everyday life. It is used in homes, street food stalls, restaurants, and grilling businesses across the region.
From this tradition, the founders set out to develop charcoal that burns consistently, produces minimal smoke, and performs reliably every time.
The factory began as a small workshop. In the early years, production relied on experimentation and continuous improvement. Batches that failed to meet quality standards were never sold. Instead, they were studied, refined, and produced again.
Over time, this discipline created a controlled production process that continues to define the brand today.
Today Charcoal Udonthani operates as part of Khokbawa Group, contributing practical production experience to the group’s broader work in biomass technology, biochar, and clean energy systems.

The Founders
The business was built by Tepparit Karngaow and Jenchira Tama, who started and developed the company together from the beginning.
Before entering the charcoal industry, Tepparit served in the military and later spent five years working in South Korea’s industrial sector, managing inventory and production reporting in a manufacturing environment.
This experience gave him a strong understanding of production systems, operational discipline, and the importance of consistent product quality.
After returning to Thailand, he began experimenting with charcoal briquette production and established a small factory in Udon Thani using his personal savings.
Throughout this journey Jenchira Tama worked closely alongside him, helping manage daily operations and supporting the development of the business.
From a small workshop, the factory gradually grew into a reliable local producer known for consistent charcoal quality.
Charcoal Designed for Real Cooking
Charcoal Udonthani briquettes are produced using biochar and recycled biomass, without chemical binders or ignition agents.
Controlled compression ensures consistent density and shape, producing charcoal that delivers:
• strong and stable heat
• long burning time
• minimal smoke
• low ash
This makes the briquettes suitable for BBQ restaurants, grilling businesses, street food vendors, and everyday cooking.
Clean and Chemical-Free
No chemicals are used during production.
The briquettes ignite naturally and burn cleanly, producing minimal smoke and odor. This creates a safer and more comfortable cooking environment.
Clean combustion is achieved through careful material selection and strict process control.
Machines Built In-House
One of the factory’s key strengths is the development of in-house briquetting machines.
These machines allow precise control over charcoal density, product quality, and production stability.
After proving their reliability in daily operation, they began to be adopted by other producers.
Today these machines form part of the broader biomass technology ecosystem of Khokbawa Group.

A National Production Network
Today the Udon Thani facility produces approximately 30 tons of charcoal briquettes per month.
The next stage of development focuses on expanding production while maintaining strict quality standards.
Through Khokbawa Group, entrepreneurs across Thailand will be able to purchase briquetting machines and produce charcoal under the Charcoal Udonthani brand.
This model creates a distributed production network capable of scaling across the country, while maintaining consistent product quality.

Part of Khokbawa Group
Within Khokbawa Group, Charcoal Udonthani serves as the group’s practical production foundation.
It is where materials are tested, processes are refined, and machines are proven through real-world use.
Before any idea can scale, it must first work reliably:
in the heat of the furnace,
in the hands of operators,
and in everyday use.
Proven Quality
Good charcoal must deliver strong, steady heat, produce minimal smoke, and perform reliably every time. Our quality is proven through daily use in kitchens and restaurants.
Honest Production
We use no chemicals in our process and place strong importance on responsible material selection and transparent production methods. Good charcoal begins with the right way of producing it.
Growing with Communities
We believe charcoal production can create income and opportunities for people in rural areas. For this reason, we aim to build a production network that grows alongside the communities that support it.
